Spring Turns to Summer 2020

Getting into this time of year, most of us were hoping that the virus would die out, and we could find out way back to normal, or what could pass for it. The weather is warmer, some places are opening again, but we have other things going on we need to take care of. Our health, not just our looks and fashion styles for one.
We need to remember to take care and watch out for ourselves and others. That does not mean we cannot have fun though. Many of us have designed or bought cloth masks for when we need to go out. Speaking of places that are reopening, the YMCA in Burlington, Iowa has opened its swimming pool, as well as other areas for small groups. We go to the pool, and we need to be mindful of large groups, no one crowding. Time to work out and enjoying fitness again. To be able to go exploring when it is this warm out is great, and we get to see nature, and watch the scenery change.
So now, we can keep up with these regulations we have been doing, maybe this pandemic will not hold our lives in death grip, and that will be our new normal.

Artists Reception at the Burlington Art Center: A Mother-Daughter Event

This was an incredible evening, and I enjoyed it immensely! I got an early jump on the day, and went downtown early, so that I wouldn't be late, and wouldn't have any trouble, but I didn't quite plan everything, so I had to adapt a little. When I got downtown, I was early for the event, but I was to late to eat at a lot of restaurants since they close after lunch, and don't reopen for dinner until 5 pm, which was the reception began. So, I decided to go get a burger at Thyme and Spice , a store and eatery close by. I was incredible and filled me up. I still has some time so I decided to go to my favorite coffee place, The Beancounter, and I got an affogato, which is espresso poured over ice cream or gelato. After that, I went ot the exibit, and it was nice. The artists were a mother and daughter which was awesome! The mother was Kimberlee Rocca, who had these amazing sculptures that were so cool, and some were even hanging, like mobiles. She put together her art install...

Just Another Crazy, Yet Awesome, Moment

A couple of days ago, I had an interested moment when I was about to come home after doing some errands. I was heading back to the bus depot, but I decided to get something cold to drink on the walk there. I ended up getting a large milkshake from my favorite spot, Beancounter. I didn't think I was going to make it there without finishing my Oreo Milkshake, so I ended up taking a different route, enjoying the day. I didn't quite make it to the Port of Burlington, because I was running out of time, but I enjoyed walking near the river, and enjoying the cool air. As I walked back to catch my bus, I made plans to try and actually head to the port next time I got the chance, and I plan to make it next time.

Events Leading Through January and February 2024

I have a really bad habit with not writing in the winter, usually due to hibernating, and becoming a hermit, but I’m trying to be better on that front. 2023 has come and gone and going into 2024 has been a challenge for a lot of reasons. The first of the year, we got hit with snow and rain, and it was like we were stuck inside for the whole month. However, in that time, I have been getting inspired again, so let me begin. Around February, there was enough decent weather for me to go out, and get some important errands done. The piles of snow are still about but were starting to melt. Downtown Burlington is full of hearts, and good stuff to see and do before catching the bus home. I also got some serious house cleaning done. Things have been starting to look up, so I’ve just been keeping at it. Our cat, Dulce, hasn’t made it easy, but we’re working on getting around him. I’ve found some order in my room, including my futon that I bought. I thought of some great series for my edite...
